I find the inclusion of the word \'unlikely\' in the final paragraph a little strange. Can\'t see why they would pre-empt the results of their full enquiry in this way. It does sound promising, but I would advise you to keep your expectations modest at this stage and in 10 days time hopefully all will be revealed.
FD or not FD? that is the question.

Well Spoke to Reworx today and some other good news, The fuel leak was not caused by faulty connection or a Mechanical failure of a fuel pipe.
It seems my car had some kind of rear accident and repaired over in Japan as they have found evidence of welding, looks like when Jap repairer refitted the overflow fuel pipe on the neck filler this was not done correctly therefore leaking out fuel on a full tank. The Insurance engineer should have picked this up ,so points to their engineer has not properly looked at the cause of the fire, seems their engineer is a bit of a monkey.

Well, if you can discredit their engineer, you\'ve pretty much won the case. If it ever got to court, a decent lawyer would take them to pieces.

Its good that they responded to your letter promptly Mark,it means that its in their \'complaints\\unhappy customer\' system,do not expect anything from them at the moment !!!  I have learnt..that the English people will word their letters in such a way that it could go either way, always a double meaning....:yes .Only get excited when you have money in your hand...:guinness

I would expect this to put a slightly different complexion on the whole thing.  Hopefully a good one!

It could work in your favour or not, what happens if they won\'t pay up due faulty workmanship carried out on the car?

BlitzBoy

I dont think they have anything in the exclusions that can claim they wont cover Faulty Workmanship, this would mean they wouldnt cover cars that have inherent design faults as they could claim this is faulty workmanship. I mean the whole idea of fully comp insurance is to cover every eventuality. How can an owner be responsiable for faulty workmanship?, so long as an owner looks after his car eg servicing, MOT and has furfilled his obligations in having the car road worthy and had not delibrately or maliciously damaged the car cant see them not paying out.
The fire policy covers for the subsequant fire resulting from mechanical failure in my eyes, as most type of car fires are caused by some type of mechanical fire anyway.

As long as the car has an mot really it is considered road worthey is it not. Fully comp insurance is surposed to be that comprehensive. Maybe Highways should look up the definition of comprehensive in the dictionary. There are exclusions in fully comprehensive ,ie if the vehicle is damaged in an act of terrorism, civil unrest, due to war but fire is most definatly covered.

Would Mechanical Failure be considered an act of God I wonder???

Over 15,000 views of this thread now, if they dont pay up that will be a lot of people telling there mates how highways rip people off.
