Hi. I\'m a member of the celica-club, and there is a link to this thread on our forum.

I\'d like to add my support, and say that I for one won\'t be using Highway Robbery for my insurance after hearing their about their behaviour.

This is what I wrote on our forum

QuoteThey should be shunned for this treatment.

What happens if you buy a second hand car. You can\'t be expected to know every mod (if there any) that has been done to the car. Some are very small, and the average person wouldn\'t have a clue that its there. Therefore to have an engineer find one and then the insurance company refuse to pay out, is frankly disgusting.
I\'m sure that there are a lot of cars that have been modded, then demodded, and sold on, that still have remnants of the mods remaining in the car.

I hope Watchdog get involved.

Great how news of this has spread through the different car clubs....When it comes to insurance companies, seems we all feel the same way. Hopefully the Highwaymen will lose a lot of business through all this negative publicity.....:cheers
FD or not FD? that is the question.

Hi there
I own and run ClubRWD (www,ClubRWD.com) and had this thread poiinted out to me, I am shocked beyond beleif that Highway have treated you like this.
I have added them to a DO NOT USE in our insurance forum.

One point, if they DO browse this board dont post up too much info or you will pre warn them so they can come up with further excuses not to pay.

Give them hell mate, All the best.

Hi, I hope you don\'t mind me joining. I\'ve been a fan of the RXs since I was knee high.

Anyway more to the point I have just come over from the Mk3 supra.net community to extend my/our support for your fight against the Highway robbers. I think it\'s disgusting the way they\'ve treated you Blitz, and I for one as well as the rest of the mk3 board are rooting for you chap. Don\'t give up. http://www.forum.mkiiisupra.net/showthread.php?t=13546

Now THIS is testament to how useful a comodity the internet can really be! back in the day you would be a lone man standing in the shadows Mark and Highway would be straight on to rip off the next guy ................................. the revolution just got publicised!!!!! 8o)

Here is their latest response let me know your thoughts guys.

" Thank you for your recent letter dated 4 August 2006, informing us of your dissatisfaction with the handling of your claim. I am sorry that you have had cause to complain about the service that you have recieved.

I have escalated the matter to the Mr D Salter, Head of CVU, who will now conduct an investigation into the circumstances and provide you with a final response in accordance with our complaint procedure. You should receive our final response within the next 10 working days, although occasionally investigations may extend beyond this peroid. In the unlikely event that our investigations extend beyond 4 weeks, I shall contact you in order to provide you with additional guidance on what action you may then take.

Please note that in the unlikely (sounds promising to me lol) event you remain dissatisfied after recieving our final response, you may ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to review the matter.

Yours sincerely

One would hope they take into account not just the lettering of their weasley contract but also the spirit of fairness that should apply to all contracts.

Failing that they should realise the PR/reputational disaster this is for them amongst the modified car community...
