Can anyone help me with a fault diagnosis???

During a recent big of engine work i was told that the clutch was slipping. It now seems to have gone.

The car is now revving at 1600-2000 in idle, instead of it\'s previous 1000, this happened at the same time i was told the clutch was starting to slip.

It drives ok, but in low gears (1st and reverse especially) it is difficult to get into gear and the clutch pedal will stick down locking it in gear. If you put your foot to the left of the clutch and pull it back up it free\'s up and bounces back out.

I have a standard clutch kit to make a change over if necessary as a temp measure, but is it something else, as i would have expected the clutch pedal to be sitting higher up when not in gear and resting??? Could it be the bushells(sp?) or the pedal itself and not the clutch

Please help?

Hello.

Sounds like your clutch master cylinder is faulty. Doesn\'t look too hard to change according to the FSM. A new one is £70 from rotaryart.uk.com
IT could be the clutch pressure plate I suppose, but I\'d be quite confident that the master cylinder is at fault with the kind of problems you\'re describing.

As for your revving problem, I\'d check for vacume leaks, disconnected sensors, or incorrectly adjusted throttle plates. Hard to say without knowing what engine work you had done?

Hello mate

Im suffereing the same Idle prob

car was sitting for about 2 months and now its doing that

Ive checked TPS all throttle screw stops etc all fine ive put it down to either idle valve not closing completely or lambda i still dont think its VAC leak even thou everyone else think so but to me feels like its been electronically help there

I was given asvise last night to connect the TEN and GND pins in diagnostic port and try adjust the idle that way as thats the correct way to doing it and that might do it so might try that tonight

ive also order bunch of stuff to do a major service on it and if i find anything ill drop a post on here

as for the clutch prob sounds like the master cyclinder as same thign used to happen on VW\'s as well

Cheers guys, i have now got hold of a master cylinder repair kit from WGT (super friendly advice btw) and they sent it out to me in only 2 days!!!!

So tonight we are going to attempt to take it out and repair it. Are there any things i should be wary about that other people have found??

As for the rev problem, i can\'t see anything obviously out of place, the work i had done was the turbo\'s silicon overhauled and replaced with new, would a leak in one of those pipes cause it to overev when the boost doesn\'t kick in until the rev\'s are higher???

yep a vac leak could easily have the car revving higher

im actually hopeing to be taking my inlet off this weekend to chacek all vacumm hoses etc as im pinning hopes on vac leak

Success on the clutch front.... we took the master cylinder apart, replaced the bits with new from the WGT repair kit and bingo!!!!

I\'m a little confused as to why the bits we took out didn\'t seem to be broken/any different though, but never mind..... at least it\'s working.

Next, the rev\'s to be sorted... i\'ll try and get under the bonnet and check the rats nest out for vac leaks this weekend.

Cheers for the help though guys.
