Hey all,

My car has never actually overheated or anything but on a warm day will easily sit to a 100oC and let the fans kick in. I just got round to actually checking the coolant properly and it needed topping up but I noticed there\'s bits floating in it. I think it\'s limescale :(

Anyone know the best way to flush the stuff out?

Cheers!

Paul.

Let it out and use a hose I guess, then top up with distilled water and anti corrosive and anti freeze

As has been said stick a hose pipe in each of the three water holes ( with the engine cold) after pulling off your bottom rad hose and just let it run till clean,

( don\'t undo the rad water drain as these can strip )

With the tank on the side just stick the hose in and let it run rather that strip out the inner wing to get the tank off.

When topping up only use the engine water cap to fill as the system will find its own level.

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Cheers the pair of you :) I\'m hopefully changing to a v-mount setup soon so at least it won\'t matter that the inside of the radiator is likely to be coated in limescale....maybe descaler ;)

Purple Ice is an anti scale agent that will slow clean out old crap in pipes etc.
