does anyone have any tips ? the engines out and all the inspection plates are off the bell housing and so is the clutch slave cylinder. ive had a look in behind the clutch but cant see how to disconnect the arm ?

You need to get a screw driver inbetween the clutch cover plate and the release bearing, and gently prize them apart - if you do it right, it should just click apart. Is a bit of a black art though!

If the clutch disc is still in the tranny just make sure the wedge collar (the silver bit that clips into the clutch disc itself) is pushed all the way toward the front of the car, and then the clutch will just pop off. If you want to get underneath the car and do it through the inspection plate you will see the collar i mean. Its the inspection plate with the "CAUTION PULL TYPE CLUTCH" sticker on it.

Once youve done this, to get the actual arm off the tranny you have to undo the two bolts that hold it onto the bell housing (youll see them when you have the clutch off) and then pull it off. This will be a bit of a job as it tends to stick but unfortunately no way other than pulling it off because the part has locating pins that stop you breaking the seal by whacking it sideways.
