I have been playing with some ideas recently for my FD and was wondering what you guys thought of this? Its a design for an after market inlet manifold but was wondering if you thought it would work better than the stock version? the throttle body would be one large 80mm or so, maybe bigger (shown just behind the kind of blue samco type hose on the inlet pipe.... the square bit) theroy being it would compress and move air quicker

what are your veiws?

Difficult to tell without back-to-back tests, or flow bench results. But the theory is good! :Thumbs-up

Tangotan

Have you got a really serious set-up? Big turbo etc? Tell us your spec?

Jit

surely youd be slowing the air down as you have a massive opposite venturi effect at the "plenum" bit

nikp

Bernoulli\'s Equation says that if a greater area is encountered then the air will slow down, so yes.

Jit

do rotarys create pulses like piston engines do to scavnege the last bits of air from the plenum? Piston engines do it ue to the movement of the valves and pistons and combustion chamber shape(although carefully shaped runners also help to scavenge air).

Are you going peripheral port then? :)

Yes it works exactly the same but different because on a piston engine the air stops moving then it starts again. In a rotary it is moving in one direction but it still has the reflecting pulse.

So in short... yes.

i\'m slowly re vamping the whole spec at the moment this is all just ideas eventual spec will be

Hybrid T04Z
My own custom tubular manifolds with T4 flange
My own spec v-mount kit
My own spec exhaust system inc down pipe
6x850cc injectors
2x044 inline pumps one for 1st and 2nd fuel rail with swirl pot and lifter pump
new ignition stuff
water injection

PPort is a possible but will be a nightmare to keep quiet on tack and a real pig on the road.

And maybe if i can figure out this hole inlet manifold thing i\'ll be doing that too.

Don\'t get your hopes up for this to be done quickly as i\'m going self employed and i\'m strapped for cash at the moment... but you get the idea

Jit

but surely a reflecting pulse going backwards thru moving air round such a great distance (as propsed here for example) would not be so great?

McCARTHY

also doing alot of chassis work increasing the track at the front by 20mm and rear by 50mm either side for better traction, ally rods here and there, roll bas etc... A track monster to give those EVO and skyline boys a run for there money...

McCARTHY

how do i find out what volumes etc to use?
