I am of the belief that insurance companies makem up premiums as they go along

whilst I don\'t doubt your quote Nick I do wonder where the hell some insuirance companies get their figures from

If you have the quote in writing then go for it

btw I am about to pay £1450 with protected NCB,  age 23, 4 Yrs NCB, with one SP60 ban, on a 95 modded car

They all make it up as they go along, im convinced.  There is never consistency.

Dave - that\'s about right mate!

You\'re 1.5 yrs older then me, but you have an SP60 - so £50 cheaper is about right i\'d say???

Davegtt

I think it depends on how they are feeling on that day.

They are all rip off merchants!

davefrith

hmm swings and roundabouts

I reckon its all about the postcode to be honest

Tesco are also going to insure my BMW at the same time, but they want 1k to do it
which is really pissing me off
have to use the no claims on the Rex you see

Plus you\'re protecting your NCB, that can make a big difference!

davefrith

if you have 4 years NCB and they let you protect it, DO IT !!

nickg123

Yeah i may ask about that - won\'t it go up loads though?

Davegtt

My quote inc. protected no claims.

Some do it as a fixed fee other a percentage.  one place offerd it for an extra 20 quid another place offered it for an extra 200!!!

davefrith

probably by about £150.00

well worth it, 4 years no claims is very hard to get back

Dave

Yeah i can imagine it\'d take nearly 4 years or somethign ;)

Sorry, just in a stupid mood!

Getting very excited about the car now.......

Given that a 4 year NCD equates to about 50% discount I\'d say you\'d be wise to have it protected. Otherwise you could end up with a massive insurance bill if you ever make a claim. Remember that you may well be a good driver but that doesn\'t mean shit if someone hits you. Even if it is their fault you have to be able to prove it and that\'s not always that easy.

I had to shop around for insurance and pay ~£1000 fully comp living in London (fairly stock \'95, offroad, no garage, 26 with 8years NCD) I went through Houghton brokers but they only do over 25s.
ric (rexy has gone now all I have left is NFSU2 :( )
