Is it possible to put the brakes from a GTS-t onto an RX7. Would there be much involved. Im not sure what sized discs the FD has but the skyline has 294discs but can take 330\'s with the same calipers.

Ive heard so much about how good the RX7 brakes are but they seem complete poo compared with my bros GTS-t ones.

Also, is it possible to change the servo and brake cylinder unit over from into the FD3 too

GTS-T / R32 GTR brakes are appalling imho, far worse than standard FD brakes. Just get a set of ferrodo DS2500 pads and some new discs (not drilled ones!) and you will be fine.

Before slating the RX-7 brakes, you should make sure yours are in tip top condition. Brakes will only be as good as the condition of them allows. If you have old fluid particularly, this won\'t help. Over time, brake fluid absorbs water, making the brakes more spongy and less effective. It is recommended that brake fluid on any car is changed every 2 years, so i\'d start there if i were you.

Then there\'s your brake lines to check, conditon of your master cylinder, etc, etc.

done the usual pads and fluid change. I was going to think about changing the cylinders/servo but as these GTS-t brakes have come up for free i thought id post the question. Especially as ive seen these things stop the bulky GTS-t much better than mine ever could.

Perhaps before i try the conversion i should take it to someone else who has an RX7 just so i can see if my brakes really are much worse than standard or if they are as they should be and im just expecting too much. Trouble is theres no one within a 100miles radius with a rex that i know, lol.

if your servo\'s goosed then the new brakes aren\'t going to be much better? i think the best idea is compare them to someone elses, or if there are 60-0 stopping distances or something you could measure? (bit far fetched though  )

I\'d compare them to some-elses mate. Skyline GTS and R32 brakes are pretty rubbish and I wouldn\'t say a worthwhile conversion. The r33 and 34 GTR ones are very good though but cost £500 plus second hand anyhow for just the calipers, then you\'d need the discs and pads which are the same price again. I doubt they\'d be an easy fit? you could probably get some brackets made up but you might as well go for some rx7 ap racing ones or something like that.
