Just plugging the wiring loom back into everything, and nearly everything has been located and plugged in. Only trouble is, the oil pressure switch sensor, and the water temp sensor (The one below the oil pressure sensor) i can\'t find the wires for them. Can anyone help identify which bit of the loom these wires come from for me?

Cheers!

Jit

where abouts are the 2 sensors, ill go out and have a look on my car

nikp

They\'re a bit of a bugger to see: just below the oil filter.

If you can see it, i\'d like to know what other sensor connections are on that lead.

Ive had a quick look....

basically, what i can see is 2 single wires with thin connectors on....on leads to  a smallish looking sensort located next to the rear trailing plug and then a much larger looking thing next to it directly under the oil filter base...

am i looking at the correct things?

edit - heres a picture if it helps?

The thing my finger looks like its pointing to (single wire long thin connector) and the other wire is on the back of the gold thing towards of the bottom of the picture?

nikp

Yup, that sounds like the right ones. The oil pressure sensor is a big round (cylinder like thing) thing sticking out the side of the engine block right under the oil filter. The temp sensor is much smaller, and right next to the oil pressure sensor.

Jit

OK ive added a photo just to confirm...

ill go out and have a look to see where the loom is going

Right,

as my loom enters the engine bay, it passes under the oil line to go over the block....basically, just as the loom passes next to the oil line, there is a single bit of wire coming off the loom which connects to the water temp sensor. Essentially its a single wire coming off the main loom.

Another way to trace it might be to locate the wireing harness for the rats nest soleniods and follow the loom back towards the ecu over the engine block towards the oil filter. The wire comes off just next to the oil filter on mine.

Secondly is the oil press switch. This connector is on a bit of the loom which on my car comes from what i think is the starter motor connector.

Does that help at all?

That\'s great - thanks! I\'ll check it out tonight. I think i\'ve routed my loom incorrectly then, cos i remeber seeing a single wire coming off the main loom, but it won\'t reach! Grrrr....

But that\'s fab help, thanks! Have some rep!

Jit

thats odd cos i remember someone telling me that my loom was routed incorrectly and when i tried to route it how they said, the water temp connector wouldnt reach either!

No wories but wtf is rep lol! Ill have some rest though! Thats enough work for me for the day :)

nikp

rep: reputation. The green little box - and if you go into your user setup, it says how many points you have :)

So do you remember how your loom is routed through the rats nest? I no longer have all the twin turbo controls, but still have the actual metal rats nest at the mo.

Jit

oh right cool! Apparently im on a distingiused road....whatever that means lol!

If you look at the above 2 photos, you can see where the rats nest on my car runs behind the hard fuel lines (behind it as youre looking from the front of the engine bay towards the rear firewall above the rear plate). It then runs behind the rats nest (for the soleniod connectors) and then back around the other side of the nest (to the front)...

its not totally clear from those photos but i dont think i took a better one!

nikp

I think i see what i may have done wrong! But won\'t know for sure until i get home form work. I think i have the wiring loom going to near the bulk head, therefore bringing the remainder of it towards the drivers side of the engine, and ultimately shortening the wiring loom by about 3 to 4 inches.

Cheers - hopefully all your photo\'s should help.

Just checked the cables earlier - thanks for the help: I now have those sorted! :Thumbs-up
