Have a really frustrating problem with my FD motor install...On the very final stage - plugging the ECU in - I came to plug the blue connector into its partner car-side. It\'s one set of pins too long!!!!!!!!

Denied :Grrr

Is there someone who could enlighten me as to what the difference is, and how I can get around it please? I\'ve had a hunt around, but it\'s a tricky thing to search for, and I\'ve not had any luck part from write ups on how to convert auto to manual :(
I think this is referred to as the "X-05" connector. I can take some pics if needed, but I\'m sure anyone who might be able to answer will know the one I mean. It\'s the engine side that\'s too large.

Thanks very much

Ian

I was tired after a long day fiddling under the bonnet when I posted last night, and I realised this morning that I\'d missed out a load of important info. lol

The egnine I\'m fitting was supposed to be from a car of the same age. It came out of a crashed example that got broken for parts - A great pity, as it only had a 20K on the clock - and I picked it up for a good price, thinking that it would give me some practice at removing/refitting a motor to the rex for when I rebuild the original engine which was blown when i bought the car - which I picked up for a  good price too :) I love tinkering with new things :D

Anyway, as far as I can tell, there is an extra valve of some kind which is bolted to the underneath of the plenum chamber, and mates up with a hole machined into it.
The blue connector on the new engine is one row of pins longer than from the loom on the old one.
New ECU is N3A7
Old ECU is N3B? (can\'t remember last number right now)

My car is UK spec, and I\'ve got a funny feeling that the car the new motor came from was jap spec. Might this explain the difference?

At the moment I\'m leaning towards swapping the looms over.. A bit annoying after having re piped the rats nest all nicely, but such is life.
Can anyone tell me if there is any reason I shouldn\'t?
Should the ECU be swapped as well? don\'t know yet if they have the same number of pins on the back, so I may be bound to doing this anyway.

Or should I try to splice the correct connector onto the new loom?
