In my current job I only stay 1.5 miles from work. I have read that if you drive your rotary and turn it off without it heating up you risk flooding it. I know you are thinking "walk you lazy bastard" but I only get 30 mins for lunch (unpaid) and I go home as my boss is the sort of guy if I take food in I cant go eat it outside or whatever, I have to eat it at my desk and continue to work (answering phones etc) so in doing this I dont technically get a lunch break and he gets half an hours free labour:mad:. Walking to work would mean walking home for lunch  (takes around 10mins) which would mean getting in making something and not having time to sit down. So anyways after my long winded explanation, would it be ok to use the rex for such a short commute 4 times a day, or would it kill it?

Will I just have to get my old bike out, sort the punctures and bare the grim scottish weather?

Or get a £250 pooper to go to work in.
Or go the long way to work.
Cant see why you cant eat outside, he surely cant stop you.
Or just make sure you stretch her legs later that day or few days.
If a stockish car on right plugs doubt youd flood her but she will need clearing out to stop her clogging up.

Its not all it would be used for, would get a good few blasts during weeknights and at weekends. Would that be enough to clear it out if I was to use it?

Much better to get a rubbish run around. My missus never paid more than a £100 for a car for years! Your on the road for less than the price of a couple of tyres for the rex.

I still stay with my parents so dont think they will want me buying another car to sit on the drive for the wee journey to work. Looks like its waterproofs and a bicycle!

Get a bike and take a packed Lunch my man, problem solved :guinness

Although the short journies on a stock car aren\'t too harsh, in the winter the car wont have even warmed properly so you may well start to harm it, either do the above or like others have said buy a shed to commute in :cheers

My bike looked alot bigger when I was 15... might need to invest in another one. Gonna look gay turning up to work on a pedal bike when others have evo / 22b and other performance cars and I have to leave mine at home lol.

Ive never had a problem just popping down to the shops or anything.  I wouldnt be worried if it was me.

When i first got the car was using it everyday for everyday things as we only had 2 cars, ran it like that for about 7 months but with adequate warming up/cooling down. Now have 3 cars so not an issue, my car is not stock but never failed me yet :god

Cally, go for it. You are worrying about nothing.

If you drive it and it hasnt warmed up yet, then just:

hold revs at about 2.5K
then floor it exactly the same time you turn the key off.

The engine will wind down with the throttle open, pumping air through and no fuel.

No flooding problem when you come to start it again.
