draining water

i need to drain all the water out of my engine, pip told me there is a 14mm? bolt on the side of the block near the spark plugs which apparently you can access from above.  can anyone high light or just explain to me where exactly this is.

water seal failure, needs to sit on my drive for 3 weeks before it is collected for rebuild.  so going to drop all the water to stop it slowly filling the rotor.

take the system filler cap off near the alternator and drain the system via the drain screw (phillips) on the bottom of the radiator. seems easier to me!

That wouldn\'t drain the block though, just the rad.

If you jack the car up and crawl underneath there is a bolt on the passenger side of the block near the spark plugs just lower.  It\'s pretty obvious once you\'re under there as there is only one bolt from memory.  I can\'t remember whether you\'ll have to take the undertray off to see it.  Just undo the bolt and make sure you have something to catch the coolant as it will shoot out.

You probably could do it from above but it would be a hell of a tight fit and you\'d have to have long arms as the bolt is right at the bottom.  You might even have to take some of the pipes off to get you\'re arm down there.

cheers jake, took it off and wondered why nothing was happening, then i took the water cap off,  then it started to play.

oh yea its a piece of p155 to get at from under neath just jacked up that corner with the standard jack and it is very very easy to get to.   wouldnt want to dream about getting to it from the top, it is as low as it could be on the block and i am not stretch armstrong.

Might be worth putting an axel stand under the car, I would hate to see someone hurt. Those standard jacks are not the strongest of things.
