Hi All,

Going through the process of measuring all internal engine parts but i\'m totally confused with the simple job of measuring the oil control rings as stated in the FSM.

The FSM dictates 0.5mm for oil seal lip width ?

Does this mean the overhang of rubber when installed in the carriers?

or

The actual width of the carrier lip, if so my carriers are way out of spec !!

I though there is three things you check on the Oil control rings, First make sure there is no cracks or chips out of it, then look at the edge that contacts the cast plate, there should be an even shiny ring going all the way round the edge (if it does\'nt go all the way round its goosed) now you have the shiny part measure the width of it (you\'ll have to check but i think that what sould be .5mm)

Its important when you fit the new rings they are well lubed and you push the metal ring square with a flat peice of wood or you run the risk of splitting it.

That makes it crystal clear now  :Thumbs-up
