Hi, anybody had problems with ground clearance? I checked out the place where I get my other cars done to see if he could get the RX7 onto his ramp, and it looked a bit tight, but not nearly as tight as the brake test rollers. I\'ve just taken my splitter off before trying it out tomorrow, and I just realised how little clearance there is between the front wheels due to the undershield. Anyone had any problems with their clearance? Do you normally take the undershield off? Its the first time I\'ve MoTd this car ????

I thought I was going to have problems when I took mine for an MOT last year..... it\'s lowerd slightly and they managed to get it all sorted ( had to have some planks to get on to the ramp though!!!

LOL, Never thought of that. I saw the guy struggle putting my car on a Low loader last week and that was bad enough.

I had to hunt around for ages to get mine MOT\'d, finally got it into my mates brother garage though (27 miles away! LOL), still wouldn\'t go in the rollers though so had to road test it. Still it passed with flying colour\'s!

ha i had this problem with my clio cup.
Its slammed on coilovers so i had to find an mot testers with a ramp flush fitted into the ground.
Tho that the least of my problems when moting this car lol

had problem with mine, a few bits of wood got it on the ramps and they could not get it on the rolling road so they put a thing in the car and drove it down the road to test drakes

My Car Is As Low As It Goes! Reverse On To The Ramp, Easy Peasy!

Bobfish

my car had to road test hte brakes. 95% brake efficiency! lol

Thames Valley Motors in Reading ( run by Sicknote on FDuk) has no brake rollers. He has what seems to be a very low ramp about 2" high. Part of it seems to be a load cell which he uses for testing brakes and wheel alignment/ toe in. This ramp doesn\'t lift. He then puts the car on a conventional lift to get under it to check. I\'m not in the trade, so people who are will probably straighen this out.

I had no problems, but my FD RS is very stock

Sicknote has a FD, so knows what the issues are. Probably worth the Optimax to go there.

Hi Mave,

I had exactly this situation last weekend as my FD sits about 2" off the ground at the front.

You need to look for a class 7 MOT station (ask your local MOT station where your nearest one is, they will know where they are in your area).  This is basically a MOT station that MOTs commercial vehicles which have to be done over a PIT.

Refuse the brake rollers as this will destroy your car.  Instead request a road test.  The tester drives with a device on the pasenger seat which measures braking efficeincy (or like my tester says "the brakes work don\'t they?" TICK)

Good luck.

D1 WTF

i got mine done a couple of weeks ago at a garage in st.albans they have rollers and a pit never lifted the car at all.
i kind of know the guy there so he was pretty good.  i think he even did a non cat test etc
my car is pretty low the only problem is they have a fairly steep little incline to get to them of the road.  not to much of a biggie but if you are super low then..........
let me know if you wanna know more
IF YOU DIDN\'T CARE YOU WOULDN\'T BE LOOKING

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys. I took my splitter off as it was damaged anyway, and had just enough clearance. Failed MoT due to red paint coming off fog light bulb, and that was all :) :)

Found a garage near me that has a flash ramp. When I first got the car I could reverse on but now that its lowered had to find garage with a flush to ground ramp makes it dead easy ( and painless ) .
