Driving home last night, the car was boosting nicely. The next thing I know the blow off valve isnt going off, the boost is only reading 0.5 bar and im only getting the chatter sound.

The boost controller was saying 0 psi as well.

Checked all hoses and pipes cant see anything hanging off or missing.

Any ideas?? :xconfused :xconfused

Cheers

Check the boost pipes again!

Done that all in tact

Where does the boost controller get it\'s boost reading from? Is it electronic? i.e. from the map sensor? Basically, you seem to have 2 issues:

1. Lack of boost - reading 0.5
2. Two differing boost gauges show different boost readings.

Is the boost gauge mechanical? That is probably more reliable right now. But the fact the boost controller is reading differently is possibly helpful - but only if it is taking it\'s reading from a different location.

AshRX

It is electronic Nic, strange that the BOV doesnt operate all now though

Andy_k

If not the pipe, what about bov?
U can only normally here the chatter with a pipe off tho.

Dont matter too much anyway if ur going single and got a new intercooler.

Boost gauge is electronic?

What about the boost controller? where does it get it\'s boost info from? Cos they don\'t agree with each other! Unless the boost controller is broken.

AshRX

havet got the turbo yet and a bit shot%%y to drive at the mo. Why fancy coming round later to have a look???

AshRX

sorry Nic, gauge is mechanical, boost controoler is electronic. Not sure where its wired up to. Looks like the wastegate or actuator

aha - ok, so something wrong on the electronic side of the boost gauge sensor. I think the electronic boost gauge would work off the MAP sensor, as that is what the ECU uses for boost sensing.

Now, since the ECU uses the MAP sensor too, maybe there\'s an issue with that. check your connections to the MAP sensor. Shown here:

Map sensor is all cool. Gonna double check boost pipes tonight. Just a bit baffled as why it happened all of a sudden

Andy_k

Because the car was shocked that u actually put your foot down to check that the turbos were there.
