Ok Here\'s a good question.

Is the bellhousing pattern / motor face of an RX8 the same as the RX7,s?

In other words, Do I have to modify the bellhousing of A RX8 Box to fit it to my 13B? :3Confused

Yes, I know Im opening a can of worms but what the heck....

MikeLMR

the bolt pattern is the same IIRC

Next question, where can I find the length of the gearbox. (Its to replace a supra turbo)

MikeLMR

you do know they aren\'t meant to be that strong ?

Kaptainbalistik

That was the next question!  How much Hp can they take? If they can handle the std RX8 , it should do the job.

I think torque is more the figure you need to be looking at but sadly the RX-8 is not a very torque\'y car.  Having said that, it seems to cope with the turbo convirsions?

But as for the figures I dont know, sorry.

kev-yorks

Sure i read someware that is the same box thats used in the mx5 also and is close to its limit behind the rx8
Regards Kevin

MikeLMR

it\'s in the same family of boxes as the newer mx5, not identical but pretty close so I\'m lead to believe.

No where near as strong as a toyota box I reckon

Kaptainbalistik

The Supra box Is extremley strong, But I have 3 choices.

1) New C/R gearset for supra box, about £2000

2) R160 Supra box (Has the correct C/R ratios, 1:1 5th overdrive Weighs 50kgish Havent found one in UK Yet

3)Rx8 Box Looks lighter, Same ratios as R160 and c/r 1:1 supra gearset Bellhuosing same, Needs shifter relocated. Car it comes from has similar power Output and at the revs the Rallycar has (And probably more tourque). Also NEW box is only £1800
