I am having a blonde moment trying to work this out.
I want to build a simple loom that controls ignition only. The car has to have the FIA kill switch and will have push button start and separate fuel switch.
Aftermarket rev counter to be fitted.
Anyone got any ideas or wiring diagrams if they have done this before.
Now for the stupid question!
On the dizzy, where do the 2 sets of wires go that dissapear into the loom like a rat up a sewer.
Thanks
Brian

PS I love blondes but thats another story:Ladys-man not

what series ignition is it ? series 3 ?

It should be relatively simple if you don\'t want anything other than the bare minimum to run the engine. Are you planning on having a charging circuit too, or will you just run on a battery and then recharge aferwards ?

I would hazzard a guess that the two ignition wires that run back into the loom will be the feeds for the ignition which will trace back eventually to the ignition barrel switch.

I know the hot rod people have easy wire kits, might be worth a look as they have everything required for the engine side in one simple package (obviously not aimed at rotaries though)

Its a 1st gen mk3.
We ripped the loom out today wire by wire and tested as we went.
We now have an engine that starts, wipers that still work and somehow no dials working for revs and charge etc.
I think we went a bit far but these 2 itemsshould be easy enough to fix.
The kill switch should be ok to fit as well.
Interesting that all the wiring that came out and the guts of the dash which is now  no longer needed was about 14kg.
Also finallly fitted adjustable top mounts and will fit anti Ford Escort guns at a later date

guns ? eh ?

tacho should be simple, they usually take a signal from the trailing coil negative. A quick flick through a wiring diagram shoule tell all :)

Sounds good, have you had her weighed at all ?

Hope to wheigh up in a couple of weeks
Still got to find out the diff ratio as I think the engine has enough grunt ( we could all do with more) but is missing out on speed

standard they a re 4.1 to 1  IIRC

I guess yours could be non standard though.
