Hi All,

I\'ve got Autoglass lined up to come and fit a new windscreen to my 1992 7.

Has anyone else had to replace a screen?  Things to look out for? Pitfalls?

Cheers PM :god

Not replace but remove and refit.

Main thing is 1. it don\'t leak :) 2. it is in the right place, make sure its in the center of the hole and the seals sit nicly all the way round.

I don\'t think you\'ll have any problems with Autoglass they fit screens all day every day.

someone mentiopned about using ford transit window rubber as it is slightly wider and gives a nicer seal

Arn\'t they Bonded? Usaly new screens come with new rubbers anyway?

Mine had a new screen and a new rubber fitted last year, apparently it was difficult to get, but it was a genuine Mazda screen with the mirror fixing bracket as part of the screen, it also had a tint at the top of the screen which was different to my original, but no problem, the screen was bonded in,

I have been told that they are bonded and usually end up smashed when they cut them out - is this the case?  :xconfused

No, not with mine anyway, they have a tool to cut through the bonding material, or nylon line pulled back and forth cuts through it, i guess some may break especially if the old screen is cracked,

It has been known to happen. Its usaly the shape of the screen that causes problems, Eg. they may strugle doing an FD rear becouse of the bend on it but the Ft would be easy.

But if your carfull you can get them out in one peice. The rubbers are a diffrent story, its always beter to have one waiting in the wings. Most Windscreen companies can get hold of aftermarket Rubbers realy easy.
