I\'ve been using the Mazda originals (got a box of them a few years ago) and they\'re easy to get off.

sounds like there\'s something raising the height of the take off, maybe a plate for oil temp sensor?

hmm thats interesting-i will have to have a closer look and take some photos. i do have an oil pressure and temp gauge. i use halfords filters too.

Cool! Just for record, I too use a sandwich plate and have no issues removing the filter come change time.

Got my new filter though Opie oils and didnt have a problem getting the old one off or the new one on.
