Hi - I want to get my upper inlet manifold powder coated, but to do so need to remove my secondary throttle butterflies. However, i want to put them back when the powder coating is done. Can anyone advise on removal of these, bearing in mind they have to be re-installed.

Cheers.

well put it this way, 90% of Butterfly screw\'s are put in then the Threaded part stuck out is then Rivited so they won\'t vibrate out.

SO.... To get them out is usaly a Royal pain in the rear.... I think i only know 1 person thats got the screws out and i think he realy strugled. If my memory serves he ground the end of the screw of (threaded end) then drilled a very small hole up the center of the screw with a piller drill, then very cafully cleaned the head of the Screw and undid it.

The thing is its not like you could just grind the head of the screw becouse the shaft is threaded so you end up with half a screw stuck through the butterfly.

I personaly rounded the head of my T2\'s secondry Butterflys and cut them out with a Fingure sander and a Hacksaw blade.

Cheers, thanks for that.

So, assuming that i ever did get the screws out - what do i do about putting it all back together?

Make sure you either rerivet the screw threads or give them a dose of locktight on reassembly because it they come out its going to be bye bye engine. Alternatively just do the mod and get rid of the secondary throttle.
