off to look at a fd tomoz with intensions of buying. It has had the ecu and commander fitted the other day and says that the revs jump up a lil but not much if say you switch the lights on. He has assured me that it will calm down after a couple of days...... does this sound normal?? The person who carried out the work is a well known and has told him this.

I believe this is called hunting, mine does it with the apexi ecu in and it does settle, but I dont think it will go away totaly.
But I am sure someome in the know will give a better explanation.

Cheers

If the ECU has just been fitted the chances are it is on its base map which is very rich and you will get some minor problems, my advice would be to get them to map it prior to purchase, if all works OK you pay the bill if there is anything amiss with the engine this will show it up.

If its running the base map it can take a little while to settle down as the ECU continues to learn settings at all the different RPMs etc.

Like John has said, get them to have it mapped properly first, that will show up any possible problems before you part with any £\'s.

its just had an engine rebuild with 3000 miles on it i would be taking it to wgt for them to have a once over it anyway

If it were that would be my 1st port of call then! Im sure Pip would give you the lowdown on it, maybe you should arrange that prior to parting with any money.
