my missus decided to take the fd3 down to the local stereo place to get ours fitted. i stressed to her that they need to know what they are doing as its an import. they said they did. when they fitted the stereo and tried to start the car. its starts then hunts then cuts out. NOT IMPRESSED!!!

they seem to think its something to do with my newly fitted clifford 650.  i dont

any ideas?

is that when you disconnect the battery and hold the brake down?

andyrose

tell em to take the stereo out and make the car as it was when she drove it in.
then get it done by someone who you know for sure knows what they are doing (does that make sense)?

and alarm/immobiliser is exactly that, it will either allow you to start or not,
there should be no hunting

PETE SMITH

Did they disconnect an earth??
Generally speaking changing a stereo shouldn\'t do that unless they were messing about.

Yeah, i don\'t know how putting a stereo in will make the engine hunt! Whether it\'s an import or not, it\'s a pretty simple job to do!

ive looked behind where the origanal stereo was and its a jungle of wires. im getting an update soon.  ill let you know whats going on

Yup, disconnect the negative lead at the battery, hold down the brake pedal for 20-30 secs, then connect the neg again.

Got to be worth a try.

As others have said, tell them to put it back the way it was when it was taken in. They have to pay for any repairs that may be incurred as it obviously ran when you took it in :) If they\'re an official Clifford dealer then complain to Clifford...then go somewhere else.

DC-TYPER

its all fixed. just to let you know. these guys did not fit my alarm..

the guys still a prat!

i wasnt there, i was working. i didnt find this out till my missus got home

PETE SMITH

Sounds like a bit of a dodgy geezer!
Very strange :eek

he said he would fit new rear speakers for £40. pioneer ones.  not in my car!
