Any idea why my series one sticks of petrol is this common, only had the car for about two weeks.??

Christopher

Hi,

It depends on how strong the smell is. I thought all carb\'s smell a bit of fuel. Mine does, and my exhaust stinks when I am at the lights.

Iam guessing as long as its not a major stench its ok. But I am no expert.

Happy motoring.

i would take the bottom part of the back seat out and check for any holes,
there are 2 pressure points in the middle of each seat at the front just push them in a the seat should come out,
the tanks can rot on the top and the inside of the arch\'s can also go

Thanks mark i will check that this evening. My friend at the garage said the tank may be rotten. Is it a big job to get a replacement or shall i weld it up (JOKING!)

thanks again Danny~

the tanks are different depending on the year of yours, better of trying to source another one but you could have it repaired, you will probably have to take the tank off to check for holes though its just 2 straps but you will have to take some of the guards off around it, the holes are usually on the top right near where the filler goes in.
