I\'ve had a look around, but most people using the Profec boost controller seem to have  Fd\'s.

Is anyone running one of these on the stock turbo on an FC TII ?

I was after some advice on what percentages you dialled in.

Cheers,

Prof.

what does it do matey - just allow you to set boost levels ??

im loosing boost at the higher end of the rev range - no idea why though ( although at 140 this might be common ?? )

Yep - tis a boost controller - most of the FD boys on hear seem to rate it, and there was on on ebay (again!).

Managed to get it for £180 including postage - and it looks brand new - guy said he fitted it, but then took it straight off as he was selling the car (scooby).

It\'s a tiny little thing - must be about 3 inches square and an inch deep, with an LCD display that shows boost levels, highest boost, last boost etc.  You can also set a warning and limit.

Trouble is you set the boost you want as a percentage of what the turbo/wastegate can do max - and I have no idea what that might be.

I know when I had the overboost problems, I was running at 12-13 psi, but that wasn\'t good for the engine, as it was running lean and blowing inlet gaskets.

I just needed to know what percentage duty equates to the normal 9 Psi boost.  You get 3 boost levels with this - off (spring only which is 5.5 psi), Lo and Hi.  I was thinking of setting low to 8 for normal driving, and the high to 10-11 psi for fun days !

I think it\'s a case of having a play and starting with low numbers !  :Giggle

Just start low and build it up until you get the boost setting you want then tweak the gain settings to alter how fast it builds the faster/ higher the gain the more likely you areto have a boost spike. Its trial and error until you get just what you want really as every setup is slightly different.

Perhaps a silly question, but how do you identify a boost spike - I\'m guessing this is a sudden surge in boost before it settles to the selected figure ?

I was reading somewhere that the profec units use some sort of fuzzy logic to try and guess how fast to spool the boost up, and if the gain is too high it shoots past your setting.

Thanks for the tips Kev.
