How many peeps have got these fitted to their motors and have they ever been used?

The two main ones seems to be RAC Tracstar and The original Tracker, are there any more?

Both were fitted to my old Impreza, it never got stolen so can\'t tell you if they worked

Personally I\'d only go for one if the insurance company demanded it, after all how many RX-7s have you heard of being stolen?

Hi,

tracker on mine - whatever the mid-range one is called & it was at the insurance company\'s insistence.  Did have a few teething problems in that it was too sensitive & used to go off every time I drove the car, but they just sent someone over to adjust it.  No major hassle - at least it showed it was working!

I\'d recommend it for peace of mind, I guess.  Hope this helps - Neil

I have a DanTrack alarm, immobiliser and tracker fitted by MotorMall, it was a must for the insurance.

Pro\'s
* I get a txt message when the alarm goes off :)
* They have a 24hr phone line that I can use to see where the car is as long as it is in GPS coverage.
* It has a security \'fence\' (a certain distance) so even if the car is somehow broken into and started, it will auto immobillise if the car exits the \'fence\' area :) Also useful for when the car is left at a a garage and I want to ensure it isn\'t \'test driven\'.
* They phone me if they think something is wrong.
* They liase with the police to recover the vehicle.
* They can remote immobilise the car .

Con\'s
* I think it uses a lot of battery juice which runs my battery down quickly, will drain it dry in 3 weeks of the car being constantly stationary (this is an assumption I have made).
* Oh the price, £29,99 / £39.99 p/month depending on options, plus the unit which was about £600.  I\'ve heard of £99 p/year trackers...

I just a got a quote from tesco insurance, for a 1992 RX-7 import valued at 8k and rather than ask me what imobiliser i had fitted as most insurers do, they asked what tracker i had fitted!?!

I said an RAC trackster.

I imagine without the tracker they may not have quoted me or the premium would have been higher.
