hi guys!
Im really looking forward to buying my first rx7, im looking for a 3rd generation with a budget of £5000. Found a really nice j plate type r which has done 51500 miles in red, looks incredible!
Anything i should look out for?
Should i get it compression tested?

cheers

I don\'t want to sound off, but this is not an old subject, theres a section called "General Queries / Hints and Tips on purchasing a rotary"

I have spent the last 8 months looking for a Nice Fd for the same budget ;) Compresion test is a Defo but make sure its done Properly with the correct tool. Be a bit wary of the engine at 51k, i\'m sure thet people will tell you that they will go on until 100k but if its not got recipts for a Rebuild make sure you have a bit of cash set aside.

As for what else to look for?? Well every thing you\'d expect to look at an over 10 year old car, Any dodgy repaires,Bad bushes at the rear, Worn drivers seat, Missing trim. Stuff like that.

I\'ll give you two peices of advice, Buy with your Head not your Heart!! i.e don\'t buy it becouse it looks nice!!

And

Do alot of reading up!! Old posts / new posts find out what to expect. There is lots of Info on this Forum, this is an old subject that has alot of posts on, spend an hour reading up and you\'ll be better for it when you go to see the Car.

As grizzly said, this forum is a wealth of infromation and if you do a search then there is a lots of info to be found about buying a 7.

I can\'t stress how much useful info there is on this forum! I bought my first rx after reading up on here for about 2 weeks, I wish I had waited and read this forum for at least 2 months before buying!
Just read absolutely everything, you\'ll be amazed what you learn. Also find as many nice friendly members local to you and go and see their cars if you can, it will give you such a good idea of what a good car should look/sound/drive/perform like!

Likewise if your budget can stretch to around £7000, i am about to sell mine, btw mines had a rebuild very recently.

All the above is very good...... I bought with my heart not my head, and touch wood..... where is it...Aaahhh there it is, I\'v had no issues!!
Paid 4700 for mine and coverd 5000 faultless miles since I bought it12 months ago!! Starts first time, every time and sounds FAB, although I have to do a bit of TLC on the body work side of things!!!

just found a 1993 rx7 with 50,000 miles dones but it has had a new engine put in 3,000 miles ago? its got a compression test read out and rolling road read out of 330bhp. Found it on autotrader, should i? god its hard not to think with your heart!!!

Ada7

Sounds like a good car, but i\'d still wanna go see it up close. You could be on to a winner and its a good car, or it might have all the engine work done but be a bit tatty. Depends what kinda car your after. Something in tip top condtion or something you can improve on... if you no what i mean :)

As long as its got proof of the Build and is nice when you look at it then your looking good..

Go look at it !! if he can proove its had a rebuild and its what you want body wise then your laffing, but look at it this was a basic engine rebuild is 3k so it does\'nt make sence??
