Should be a simple plug and play job. I\'ve yet to receive mine yet, but i was told the old ECU is in the left part of the passenger footwell.

Did it come will install instructions?

Ah - best to find an english copy!

I *assume* you need to disconnect the battery before installing. Then you will need to run the car through the simple \'self learning\' process which the PFC has.

Hopefully someone will post a link to a english version of said manuals describing the process in more detail!

Cheers, Paul.

rang an apexi dealer in liverpool and he told me you cant get it in english

Hi ya mate, just got my PFC from japan and my japanese aint so good either! LOL, but what ya need to do is-

1- Disconnect battery, then remove old ECU (passenger foot well, on the left) take care when taking the plugs out, as ya don\'t want to pull any wires out the harness.

2-insert PFC & commander into existing harness

3-reconnect everthing and then run setup program

4-Setup =

run engine at idle for 10mins with all electrical stuff off

Then Run for further 10mins with rear demister on only

then run with Air Con on for 10mins, i also then did further 10mins with all electrics stuff on just to make sure.

it will still hunt a bit after installation, mine took 3 days to finally finish learning the car. You can get the apexi instructions for the PFC & commander on the electrical sticky thread, good link.

hope this helps.

I\'m just installing mine now... I\'ve run into a problem though:

The stock ECU is secured with screws to a mount in the car, yet the PFC doesn\'t seem to have any screw holes. How do i secure it?

If you have purchased the PFC new then the box will contain velcro sticky pads, all i did with mine was fixed two pads to the original top bracket that held the stock ecu in place and then fixed one on the bottom side of the PFC to secure it to the inside of the car (i think it was a white tube that run along the bottom sill of the car that i connected it too). Would take some photo\'s but camera is dead at mo, sorry.

hope this helps.

Thanks stu, thats pretty much what i did!

I had to cut away part of the old bracket (front side) so the commander could plug in ok.

All set up and running now! :)

Also, the setup went pretty smoothly; found its idle for each case within about 20 seconds.

Only one it can\'t find is fast idle - after a drive, when i come to a stop at a junction it hunts up and down about 500 revs for about 10 seconds before it settles back to normal idle.

I\'m guessing the high and low settings for fast idle are too close together by default? Anyone know for sure?

Ta, Paul.

I\'m not too clued up on PFC\'s but a pal of mine had a simalar problem when his air con was Turned off (did\'nt do it when it was on) I\'m not sure what Pip did to it but it took the hole of five minutes to fix.

Its worth a search through the Old posts i think this sort of thing is not unusal.

Am i right in thinking the high and low bands for idle are the deceleration fuel cut RPM and idle RPM respectivly? The manual is less than clear! :-/

I\'m thinking if this is the case, then i can move these apart a little to stop it hunting when i come to a stop at after driving for a bit...

Ta, Paul.

I found a link to fduk forum which talks about this problem a bit if anyone else has it < here >

Hi ya mate, wat i ended up doing with mine was setting idle at 900rpm a little high i know but cut the hunting out. This is what i set mine too, until i get it prof tuned -

F/C A.E 1400
F/C E/C 1450
F/C A/C 1450
IDLE A.E 900
IDLE E/L 1000
IDLE A/C 1050

Hope this gives a rough idea, it worked fine on my motor. You HAVE to keep the value between Idle setting & F/C setting above 100rpm.

catch ya at RSIII, Cheers Stu
