Very good points made by John here,

As long as you pointed out exactly what the car is and they are aware of that then it should be good, any mods declare them and the quote then made should be sound.

Cheers ;)

Quote from: BrainfireWell, they\'re a big company, lots of people seem to use them, and I\'m sure if they were shafting people on a regular basis they\'d soon get rectumized (sorry, just made that word up) from the insurance ombudsman mate... just a personal opinon of course. Maybe they just realise that because you\'ve got a decent motor with a bit of poke, you\'re more likely to love and cherish it than wrap it around the nearest lampost, unlike some bugger in their modded Corsa.

Dont know how long you have been on this forum mate but, I have seen plenty \'wrap\' their\'s within the 1st month, I have seen all sorts of insurance quotes from 5K :eek to a few £100 but rest assured if you are under 25 expect my 1st example or if you are an \'experienced\' driver expect the latter, me,I would be questioning your quote............ for my own piece of mind.

They wanted £1233 last year when i did a quote now they want £2261! I think insurance companies pull figures out of their assh\'s tbh because iv had all sorts in the past aswell. £4.7k for a 1.3 J reg escort wtf! Any ideas for a new company because i need to insure mine aswell :)

My mums Granada premium was £360 odd. Some dudes tried stealing it by bending the door back, anyway they paid out £50 eventually!!!!!!! :2eek

I\'m quite happy with elephant, got a good quote, and been with them 18 months, being very old helps. no probs getting a new windscreen when mine got chipped, they were very helpfull in fact.

I had my saab 900 T16s with elephant saved me 1k on insurance, then I had to claim. Didnt call to say car was written off just a letter saying send us your keys. Customer service wasnt that great & payed out less than bottom book on a car that could of been fixed for less than £500 but in their eyes to old to fix. I for one wouldnt use them again..... Or norwich Union direct!

A-Plan might be worth a shot. Got some reasonable reviews on the forum.
FD or not FD? that is the question.

i tried elephant they gave me a silly quote  then i realised it was for a 2.3 not 2.6 fd i would really check the quote before taking it out
insurance companies are to**ers when it comes to paying out (any excuse not to ) :WaveBye

I\'ve always used AON, my most recent quote was £590 on a classic policy, but that is with ALL my mods declared, down to the last nut & Bolt so for a T88 Single i don\'t think thats bad. That also includes my MRC membership discount

John has got me well paranoid now, this is a powerful car and sometimes when i drive it i think "its only a matter of time before i smash it up!" i dont want to pay anymore insurance and im worried that they are going to rectumize (heh love that word) me if i tell them they got the wrong car.

I did ring them after the quote online and it was a UK call center they had the right model im pretty sure of it.. im hoping that they havent cocked up and got it right cos i dont want to be stung for another grand just for insurance -- i need new rims!.

Its difficult being young, rich and stupid. Some insurers wouldnt give me a qoute like AON because i dont have enough real wheel drive experience. all those hours on GT4 lol... and the fact i used to kart and that i have had legal access but no car in my name to several powerful rear wheel drive cars makes no difference to them.

Im with rix they do pull figures out of thier ass sometimes, i got quoted 5K insurance for a 1980 mitsubishi sigma!!!
