Peter have you workd out what the problem actually is with the current set-up?  Is it just too hard or does it get bouncy and not feel solid over bumps at speed?  When changing lane at high-speed does the rear feel a bit vague and disconnected?
Mine used to have quite a harsh ride but be really unstable over bumps as the dampers had given up so I had pretty much just springs with little damping.  With decent springs and dampers it\'s now firmer but not as harsh/crashy and feels really tight - lots of feedback from both the front and back!
Not suprising that these things need replacing on our cars though - most are 12-14 years old!

like a bouncy castle over rough (all seem to be ) roads sure if i go over a matchstick i can tell if has been lit !definately bounce around and is hard as hell over bumps but no worries about rear end.only thing that bothers me about adjustable suspension is wife had a set of konis on her rs turbo only 2 settings rock hard when passengers in or if solo rattled your teeth.been using RX for last 3000 miles as my astra was in use at work, came to work in astra today nice and soft without rolling, teeth not rattled.
in for full oil change/plugs 25th overdue so is garaged until then and will get doug to check if dampers are ok or not, could be the answer dont want to loose handling for a too softy ride

I\'m on the look out for softer susp as well, i really dont feel comfortable with the back end jumping about if i floor it,not that i do much, never red lined it yet! think the standard susp a bit too hard for our roads unless you live in Cornwall. plus i\'m getting old, so hope to get Tien Flex on mine, but it\'s a toss up between that or Apexi at the mo! decisions!
cheers Bob

I will have my old suspension up for sale in the next week if anyone is interested.

I cant remember what type it is, but its much better than standard!

Very interested in this post since I\'ve hurt my back and would like the oppurtunity to have softer suspension when you need it - and stiffen it up for the track. It\'s the \'crashing\' over bumps that seems to the problem.

I have 1yr old adjustable Konis with original type-R springs and would love to try your set up some time Ian and give a report back on the site.

(my complete set up will then be for sale which I am sure would suit the purests)

UK versions of the Ohlins are excellent, but the Jap versions are awful!

If you want hard, these will shake your teeth out!!  I reckon the roads are made from glass over there?  Do they smooth them out each night??

QuoteKeith   so your konis not that adjustable then for when you want softer ride ?
Pete

I run my Type-R with the Konis at their softest setting and would not expect to turn them up at the back on the road. The Konis therefore start at the stock setting and give further adjustment for track/fast road work, give excellant damping at speed without wollowing and of course the ride height looks just great at their lowest setting.

What I am hoping for from the Tien Flex is an improvement on the springs (and maybe the re bound adjustment) so that the inevitable pot holes on our roads are soaked up better so the ride is less harsh but right there if you want to push on hard, and, with the improvements in suspension over the last ten years I don\'t think thats too much to ask.
