RX8 Gearbox

Just a Query, Does anyone know who I could get a RX8  gearbox from? (No ,not Mazda!)

Also, Are they much biggerr than the Gen 2 Rx7 box?

Carl Hayward was advertising an engine & box from memory. Otherwise I\'ve seen a couple on ebay but high reserves were not met.

Are you after a 5 speed or 6 speed? The six speed RX-8 boxes are the same as the ones fitted to the MX-5 and S15 200SX (ie. they are not manufactured by Mazda) so they should be available through a breakers yard by now.

Size wise I don\'t believe they are any bigger than a FC/FD box but they make have that horrible gurdle/subframe setup which could complicate fitting to an earlier car?!

somthing in my head is telling me that I have read somewhere that they are very very similar to the newer 6 speed mx5 boxes ... apparently the mx5 boxes are much cheaper too.

My problem is that Im from OZ, and I dont know where to look!  (Im still looking for a Lsd for the FC. Back home I can get one in a day!)

Oh and dont start on getting steel for a struttbrace (London, sheesh!)

also a search on //www.locostbuilders.co.uk or even a post in the wanted section would yield good results for steel suppliers.

As for the MX5 box its a case of ebay, mx5 forums (mx5oc.co.uk ?) and ringing round breakers

Not sure on an FC diff ... they are a bit rare in the UK or so I am led to believe.

Hi All,

I do have a complete RX8 engine with all ancillaries and 6 speed gearbox for sale.
They both belong to me.They do not belong to Rotechniks.
If anyone is interested I am prepared to split.

Otherwise ,how much were the gearboxes going for on ebay? At the moment I am assuming the Regenisis motor has the same motor / bellhousing pattern.

Mike, Do you know where I can get some 6-8mm Alloy for a sumpguard? (the RX7 is getting a hiding doing PCTs)

We use a local aluminium stockholder firm but its damned expensive ... you want dural too (and a hard grade) and not ally as you\'ll wipe out an 8mm ally one in no time (we run with steel guards now as they last longer !)
