has anyoner had the guts to replace there wiring loom that i think runs from the engine down to the ecu. My wires on the ecu are hacked to hell and im getting a bouncing speedo, bad grounds etc etc. would i be better off just ripping it out and starting again? or is it an engine out jobby?

any tips appreciated

I just removed my engine this weekend and the loom can be pulled out of the car through the grommet before removing the engine, and I think most of the connections are at the top of the engine under the plenum area so you may be able to do it without totally taking the engine out.
(big thanks to davehg for the engine removal help BTW)

I have a spare loom that is in good condition too if you do decide you need one, well thats unless I decide I need a new one! re-attaching all the electrics is really scaring me!
Hope this helps. :)

I was down at re:worx yesterday and strangely enough actually watched chris pull a loom out without removing almost anything at all! Ten minutes work i reckon, sure he makes it look easy though.

Jovic82

really!? yeah but with my patience i would probably end up doing more harm than good if i tried to rush it! you are welcome to come and do it in ten minutes if you want dan? he he
