Engine mount shield

I have had to remove the engine mount shield to fit the wastegate, will this cause any problems?  I presume it shields from the heat? as i intend to make a turbo heat shield i think it should be ok.

Shouldnt be a problem, another thought is, that the drivers and passengers side are slightly different, but i dont know in what respect, would swapping them round work??? :bandit
