I had an oil change recently and after driving to southend i noticed oil in the tray under my HKS filters.  Is this because the oil was overfilled or could it be another problem.

Gman

Pic of the engine, you can just see the filters.  Also i have only just realised the black plastic bit covering the front has been removed does it need to be there?

Looking at the picture above, does the tray visable from the side go all the way underneth the filters. If it does are the filters heavily coated in oil?

Sounds like it could be blow by. This is when running full boost the oil vapour gets pushed around the vacum system and down to the filters. This is where a catch can would be installed to resolve.

The black thing thats now missing provides air to the air filter.  if its not there youll now probably not be getting a good flow into the intercooler as the air will just take the easy route out through the big hole and not into the IC.

No idea what the oil is by the filters though.

The tray does go all the way underneath, and yes the filters are pretty dirty and greasy.  i was looking for some new one but they are quite expensive.

Gman

Is the black thing easy to get hold of, sounds if  i better get one.

They are not expensive really.

They look like HKS Filters, so assuming they are just get new filter elements.  Lots of places do them, but in this case Sumo Power seem a good option.  Not the cheapest but next day delivery so you will get them quickly.

New elements will be about £30

The black thing.

Well you could either just block the exposed hole, and run a pipe from the whole to direct the air to the filters.  I wouldnt have thought its a big deal really.

Cheers for that I must have been looking at the wrong part as £30 doesnt sound bad.

Does Sumo have a website i can order from?  i had a quick look but couldnt find what i need.

I dont think its up.  Best thing to do is to phone a tuning company tomorrow most places will have them.

As an illustration I found this.  What you want is the 2nd item down.  HKS Filter Elements.  Dont order them from that site though, I dont think it looks godd and youll end up with the wrong parts.

As you might notice, they come in 2 sizes.  You will need 2 x the 150 size.
