well after a small hick up, putting the wrong e-mail add in paypal, the car got delivered late sat afternoon, and its quite shocking what i got for 102 quid, the re-spray is very very nice the colour is montecarlo blue pearl, tho the pics make it look a lil flat and purple, and you was rite about the total lack of rust  i was shocked! another plus point is that all 4 tyres look like new! tho they are knancans(sp?) heard about a few blowouts on motorways and at odd times.

i\'ve started takeing bits off the engine in the red car but not too far since i had to meet friends and so on, i really need to find a engine host so i can get it out, on that note is there a lifting eye on the back of the engine near the gearbox?

anyway hear are the pics!!

stu you might know the what the switch is in the last pic above the ashtray?

anyway thats enough for now i\'ll keep updateing the thread after each weekend.

chris

stu i worked out why the car maybe never started, one of the connections on the dizzy wasn\'t pluged in, near the alternator, tho i thought we checked it...

Chris,  Which part of the world is the car that you want the engine removing from in?   If it is in Scarborough, I have an engine hoist and 2 hands if you need help there.  let me know if this is of any use to you.

Looks like a nice shell!

Are you stripping the interior?  From the photos it looks like it has no sunroof?  If so I would be interested in the headliner.

grinder

the one in the pics - DID - have a sunroof

and i think he would be stripping the red one - not that one

Loxam - the meet is on monday .. hint hint hint

i never tryed again after we did, arrr that might be handy when the engine is in, yes it has bonnet pins now no bonnet latch tho  :eek  might have to fix that or some ned might try to drive off with it round ere. the bonnet is a stock one with a fibreglass scoop looks quite simalure to a TII one, looks nice on the out side but under it is a bit rought and looks like it would stop any air that comes in.

prisspringle

loxam it has a sunroof but no liner, under it,i will be stripping the red one, if theres anything left of it at this rate, but that hasn\'t got much on the inside, or a sunroof. the shell is shocking really for what i payed for it as well.

FD3SNuttah

looks very nice that mate, good price you paid too, I dunno about the fibreglass scoop tho! id get rid of those nankangs we call them "ditch finders" around here! lol

Have you started on getting the engine out? a few tips for ya, label everything and if you cant identify a part then give it a reference number and take your time.  the loom comes out with the engine so just unplyug it from the ecu and then get a mate to thread it through the hole in the fire wall, job should be a good un!

get it started soon tho mate, show season is just around the corner!

prisspringle

i know what you mean about the tyres, dunno why he used them with what power he claimed(400bhp) i\'ve only got the radiator off, alternator, air pump and dissconected the oil lines to the oil cooler.

the scoops gonna stay for now, tho i\'m not sure about it totaly, it doesn\'t look as bad in real life.

i\'m hopeing to have the engine into the new shell in a weekend or so, and have it running the week after, tho i might wait till may to insure it , cos i\'ll be 21 then and the insurance will be better :D

we both want to go to atleast rotorstock maybe a few other if we can.

chris

Loxam

Get the car back up here next sat grinder :)

Then just gotta let my 1 year ncb come in and I can get the sodding insurance :)

prisspringle

BIG thanks to Alban1973 for giving me a hand, well doing most of the work, i never expected you to have quite so many tools!

any way so far the engine is out of the red car and is now living in the boot till next time alban comes, the gearbox is pretty much off , we left it on since its easyer to leave it there than find somewhere for it to live, all that needs doing now is swap looms over(not the engine half the other side) and crossmember remove the oil cooler then we can pop the gearbox and engine in plumb it back to gether and it should work.almost sounds easy...

i also found another switch in the blue car that i have no idea what it does, its next to the rear fog light switch, any ideas stu?

does anyone know what controls the curise control, is it by the ecu thats different between car that do and dont have it?

is there anywhere that you can by brand new wireing looms mines seen better days like most peoples and i dunno how much they are.

what spec battery do i need, cold cranking amps ect?

and the last two things for now, has anyone got any oil cooler hoses i need new ones and the hose that comes from the heater in the car and joins to the radiator?

chris

P.S. alban whats your prefered tipple? :cheers

grinder

need pics of swithes matey !

but the only thing near the fog light switch is the elec mirror switch ??

the cruise - i think it has its own ECU somewhere - you dont really need it to be honest - but worked fine when i had the car

glad to see you got the engine out :D
