Looking at some 3rd Gen RX-7\'s tomorrow.

Currently have a scooby, and after visiting a Jap car show a couple of months ago, the wife hasn\'t stopped talking about the RX-7\'s we saw there.

However, being a practical type of person, I\'m at least vaguely curious as to what kin of economy I can expect to get from one of these in order to decide if it will basically be a weekend toy, or if I will actually be able to run it a lot more than that ?

I mean I\'m used to the crap ecomony, only get 25mpg typically from the scoob, but is it likely to be better worse or about the same as this ?

15 -20 at best somtimes as low as 12, only been into rotarys a short time so other my have more detailed figures, depends on mods etc.

I\'m only 20 mins from you that could be handy!  Will be a few in Southend sea front tomorrow if your interested, 3pm by the casino.

So do you have to run RX\'s on Optimax or anything like that or can you just use normal 95 RON unleaded ?

Or does it depend if it\'s an import or not ?

Bit of a how long is a piece of string question.  I have seen from 6mpg up to 29mpg from mine.
I averaged 16.5mpg in my Impreza when I had it, driven in a similar manner an FD would return 11mpg.

Unless you drive very very carefully on motorways the whole time there is no way you will average 25, more likely 16-18.

Edited to add:
Put the highest quality fuel you can in it.  If you get a UK car you can run it on NUL, but I wouldn\'t.

Normal unleaded is not good for the engine i have been told, needs to be super or optimax.
