Decided to upgrade my front discs and pads all round.

Can anyone list me tools that I will need to change the Front discs and all pads ?

Do I need to bleed the brake system or can I do it without ?

Thanks

You will not need any special tools to change your Disc\'s n pads.

You will only need a socket set, to undo the retaining bolts, a big screw driver to leaver against the old pads to get the pistons back (do this before you unbolt the caliper) and a long nosed pair of pliers to wind the piston back in the rear caliper.

However  personaly I would suggest that if you have never worked on cars please let an expert do this for you because of the safety side of attemping this job, if you do feel able attempt this feel free get in touch with me if you encounter problems.

Hope this helps.
All the best Clive

Hmm yeah I think then I\'ll ask an expert then, or maybe ask an expert to do it while I watch, I\'d really like to learn.

Here\'s removal of the rotor in summary .. jack up the car and put on axle stands, remove the wheel, undo the two bolts holding the caliper on the mount (top and bottom most bolts on the backside of the caliper), rest the caliper on something so the lines not stretched. Now undo the two large screws on the face of the rotor, place one back into the spare threaded slot and screw it back in, put a wheel nut back on and wind in a notch or two incase the rotor slips off, now tap around the back of the rotor bit by bit and it should eventually edge forward and you can remove it (after removing the wheel nut again).

If working on the drivers side rotor then makes things easier if you turn the steering wheel to full lock left first to help access to the caliper bolts... and vice versa for the other side.

Depending on how well things are rusted on you can have the fronts off in 30mins tops.

If you wanted to upgrade because the rotor\'s rusty then id suggest you buy a  circular wire brush bit for your drill and use that to clean off the rust (not on the part of the rotor where the caliper grips obviously), it\'ll come up shining. Presumably if you use a bit of polish it\'ll help stave off further rusting for a bit..

Have fun and use gloves as it\'s mucky in there and better grip on your spanners :)
