I\'ve read plenty of posts here about stiff door handles, but minewas fine untill this morning, now it feels solid as a rock and wont move.

Door opens fine from the inside.

I had central locking fitted 6 months ago with the alarm system, this is working fine also.

Can anyone tell me what is likely to have gone wrong and how I might go about fixing it ??

Thanks guys....

The best way to troubleshoot is to remove the outer door handle. Search around the forum on how to remove the outer door handle.

Pull off the interior cover and un-do the two bolts.  Pull the outer handle towards you and have a look at the rod that connects to the door handle, it moves down to open the door.

Hi Dave the pivot seizes, and if forced breaks the cast alloy leaver.

Best bet is leave it alone till you have time to take the handle out and check it.

With the door open just pull off the plastic cover then armed with a 10mm spanner undo the three nuts holding the door handle on.

If its not that unclip the rods and check they are moving up n down O/K activating the lock itself.
All the best Clive

Don\'t use it until you\'ve had a look, I had been planning to take mine apart and loosen off / WD40 it all. That was until I broke it last week doh.
Unsurprisingly this pushed me into action and I did the passenger side and it is silky smooth now, really made a difference, just as well as I will be using it to get into the car for the next wee while.

I agree, had this on my passenger side, the missus wasnt pleased she couldnt get in and thought I was locking the car so she couldnt !!

Anyway if you follow gmans advice, its a 2 sec job, make sure you spray wd40, leave it for a bit and start pulling the handle, spray more wd40 and pull, it will eventually come loose, refit....jobs a good \'un
