Hi Guys,

Car not been driven for a few weeks, as I\'ve had the UIM and TB all polished up :)
Have refitted(new gaskets used) and a second hand solenoid valve replaced(double throttle control)- Many thanks Geoff!!- you saved a panic yesterday.

Car has really high idle- 2.5K, let it warm up to see if dropped but no joy...I\'m thinking its either a vac hose or check valve leaking- any ideas which are the most likely?? the car is also sucking in air through the filters, what would this point to??

Another thought is the TB or Throttle cable- checked cable and fine. The Throttle body is a different one to what came off, so any other sensors or things which could be faulty or to check??

Hoping to make it along to the London run at the weekend, so quick help is much needed!!

Thanks in advance, Rich

its meant to suck air in thru the filters..high idle could be
idle valve stuck/faulty
throttle position sensor faulty
small screw by the air filter incorrectly adjusted
highly unlikely a vac hose wld cause this kind of idle problem..maybe a couple of hundred rpm but not nearly 1700 rpm

Thanks for the quick reply mate!

lol- the filters, yeah I know- but I can hear a defiante noise(clunking) and then them sucking harder for a couple of seconds at a time??? Not heard this before...It has been along day tho!

OK pic attached, 1,2,3, which screws do what?? So I know what I fiddling with (this is new to me, but I\'m learning fast!)

Glad its unlikely to be a vac, just presumed, as I\'d been dis/reconnecting them on the way.

Just thought.....

Would my Power FC show if the sensor was down?? If so how would i tell??

tps needs to be checked as it is voltage related and can affect the idle
idle control valve is easier as u can just unplug this and see if it affecs the idle
look on the side nearest the bulkhead..the idle valve is quite big and will have a elec plug in it as it will be a stepper moter that varies the amount of air bypass for idle about 2 inches long last time i looked
the tps is just towards the passenger side of car on the throttle body also
and the idle screw is just above the oil filter...
not an easy job to do at night though

could also be butterflys stuck open for whatever reason but never come accross it before
in a 3 door cossie i had with a secs monitor the heat from inside was sending a bad signal to the ecu giving a false reading from the tps so goes to show what a fauly elec signal can do..there is a site if u go on google and type in throttle position sensor rx7 adjusting it shd gove u the site..its american and an absolute goldmine of info

All sorted now!! :)

Deffo TPS- have put the old unpolished item on for the time being, due to lack of time for the London run...Will fiddle with the new one when I have a bit more time!

Thanks again!
