Do I have a problem? (brake pads)

Hey up chaps
I think i might have a problem, to be honest i\'m not sure as ive never seen this before.
Ive just replaced my discs and pads on the front, black diamond discs, hawk hp plus and everything fine, checked by back ones and thought oh dear best replace them aswell, I only bought the pads as the discs were fine. I bought the same as the front (hawk hp plus)
Ive just took the old pads off on the back and it stunned me because there is no wear on the pads apart from on the edge and this is both sides. It looks like someone has took a knife and took a slice off the edge of the pads instead of them wearing evenly.
Now is this because the pads ive just taken off wasnt put on right or is there a problem somewhere else, ive tried taking pics to show you but the flash makes it to bright.
Any tips you can give me?

if you look at the disc, if it is worn, when you run your finger over it you will feel and possible see a ridge, this is the first contact with the pad, so wears a groove to suit before flat serface of pad touches disc.
Does that make sence?
Once groove is worn in it will then wear evenly. If really bad you should change rear disc.

Hi gary. That makes perfect sense now you mention it.
As you can guess the pads come today.

I have run them in and when i stop from about 60ish i get a juddering like a disc is warped.
I know it isnt because it didnt do it before i changed the pads.

Will this sort itself out as i bed them in better or do you think i have put them in wrong?
I think i might strip them down tomorrow and make sure i have put them in right. I didnt have any problems with the front. Straight swap.

have you put the metal anti noise /rattle shims back in??

There was 1 missing on one side, it wasnt there when i took them off...
