Just wondered as having watched a load of drifitng clips recently the drivers seem to like giving the handbrake a good tug to get the back end out & i guess the RX7\'s lever is in a rather nice spot for this
Now this was never really an option in a 4 wheel drive subaru as there were various scare stories of diffs shooting out thru the rear number plate Now OK these are extreme examples & the 4 wheel drive is clearly a different animal (& yes there are certain models of impreza which have nice toys which allow this) but whats the theory with potentially doing this kind of thing with a FD good bad & indifferent if you will?

I think you might crash the car before it does any mechanical damage :p

If you\'re going to do it (which knowing scooby owners you will;)), do it in a VERY open place where you wont be able to hit anything.

I use the handbrake a fair bit (not in the rx though) ... but its usually to save having to do a 3 point turn ... not to drift the car. The main points to note are that the handbrake is only applied as you turn in to unsettle the car and then its off with the brake and on with the power ... like  I said it usually results in a 180 (the intended result) so I doubt you will want to be trying it in the rx :D

I actually find pulling my handbrake up does pretty much nothing - its useless

ya see Lee has already bust his :p lol so keeping accelerator press while pulling not good idea! lol
Smilies i might have a few sources for various smilies but dont test or challenge me i haven\'t even started on the really BIG UNS
I really aint guna try using handbrake i was merely intreged & should i suddenly have buntingthorpe all to myself with maybe Don Palmer for company then such an idea wood never cross my mind

You would want to put the clutch in if you were going to pull the handbrake, not keep on the throttle.

I think the 50/50 balance of the FD is all wrong for drifting. I had a shot on a drifting oval a couple of weeks ago and couldn\'t hold the car in the drift it will just keep coming round on you.
I dare say it is possible to drift an FD, just I can\'t do it yet.

I have held it is a slide up onto the motorway once but that was because I was suddenly concentrating very hard not hit the wall. If I had lifted I was into the barrier.
Mines Black and dirtier than Donatos. But hey, no-one asked for a good clean fight.

Its not the best drift car out there, but on a constant bend I can pretty much hold it.  Its when you have to change direction I get all spinny :D
