Taking the bolts out of my MS01\'s and i have a bit of a problem with some stuck nuts.  You have to hold the bolts on the other side with pliers but some of the nuts won\'t come all the way off and the pliers can\'t hold the bolt tight so it just turns.  Tried WD40 with little success so what other ways are best in this case - heat? a bit of hammer action?

any chance of a pic of problem nut????

I have had similar probs in the past where the stud spline in the hub has spun.

You may be lucky and buz them off with an air gun or you will have to do what I have done in the past and that is get the welder out and tack weld the back of the stud to the hub, then once the wheels are off fit new the studs as it will be the studs that are dead and not the hub holes.

Hope this helps.
All the best Clive

Sure its the nuts on the wheel (like a split rim) not the hub Graham is on about, try and get a socket or spanner on the rear and plenty of wd40. There is no easy way, they probably not been moved for several years, see if you can get replacements before buggering any up. I would not heat them as you dont know what metals they are and one may expand quicker than the other and get tighter. See if someone can hold a spanner or socket  2 hands better than one.

Thanks for the replies, it is for the nuts holding the split rim together.  I was going to get assistance today as my hands are killing me from yesterday. more WD40 it is then  :Tongue1

No problems, we must be able to get them off.

Gman - I have successfully taken out all the nuts on my MS01s, so you can easily do this.

get a 10mm socket for the bolt on the inside of the wheel, and for the outside thread head you\'ll need either an 8mm socket or even better, find the closest equivelent imperial socket down from an 8mm ... this should fit perfect and allow an easy removal. most of mine were easy once you loosen them, but one wheel i had to hold the thread for every socket as they were so stiff.

good luck!

Gman

So there is a socket that should fit? i thought i tried all of mine and none would hold it so i reverted to pliers.  Will have a butchers tonight.

Jodypamplin

i\'d try to avoid the pliers, might scratch the face of the bolts!

typically the 8mm socket would work for most, but the stiff ones did need a better fit, and that\'s when i reverted to the imperial sockets. you\'ll sort it now probs  ;)

Gman

Still won\'t come off, tried with two people, socket pliers and anything else that would fit and it would budge.

Anyone got a spare MS01 bolt??

Gonna try and hammer a socket onto it tomorrow to get it off.

wd 40....a lil heat..heat gun or similar....a stud remover tool....should be a walk in the park

Used so much WD that i couldn\'t use heat for fear of igniting myself.  I\'ll get that bitch off, its a great way of concentrating the mind and keeps me busy.

The low heat will increase the penatration of the WD,btw..it only burns or ignites on open flame high temps. :Typing
