wat do people think of installing 850cc injectors in to the primaries to give a bit more fuel?

the pri rail will be professionally modified to suit injectors.

any experiences / opinions??

cheers

Depends on what you want to achieve really.
If you let us know that then we can give you some info.

850cc injectors in the primaries work fine, I have tuned quite a few cars with 850 in the primary position and have encountered no issues.

What about slightly higher fuel consumption, higher emmissions for mot\'s which are hard to get right with stock cars?
They are not needed unless you are going really extreme.

Not if you know how to set them up properly. There are a few tricks which make them idle and drive exactly like stock primaries :)

Brian:  hi mate Nick here, spoke the other day, just considering options buddy, will speak to you soon :Thumbsup!

Carl: thanks for the reply i would really appreciate you input.

mods, hks filters, uprated smic, full hardpipe intake, de cat mid pipe, kakimoto back box, power fc.

im looking to make decent power without going crazy, eg. 300-310 rwhp (if thats achievable with mods).
main aim is a drivable street car, thats fairly safe on the engine.
i am not going single, the only other foreseeable mod would be down pipe.

i am currently mapped at 265rwhp with filters, back box and power fc only 0.9bar. (thanks max!!)

basically i think that i need some more fuelling to allow for the cat out but dont really want to go the whole aftermarket fuel rail 1680\'s route, just looking to suit my needs.

thanks :guinness

I am going for the uprated 850s with mine,

Similar mods to you but have downpipe and water injection(on way) and I only have a panel filter. Also going for a boost increase similar to yours.

Not sure about the power but reckon it will be over 300.

Mines should be done in Feb...hurrah

The whole point of stock 550cc priamry injectors is to not only get a good idle but for lower fuel consumption and emmisions as they are better comtroled than 850cc\'s.
The 850cc injecotrs cannot be ramped down to the same level as 550cc injectors and still work absolutely as they should.
All of tuners are able to tune them for the car to behave with stock feel and drive as the stock 550cc\'s.That does not mean that they have the same fuel consumption or emmisions.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for outlining your objectives.
That would work fine for that power output.

I have Sard 850cc primaries in my FD and i dont like them at all...

She cuts out the whole time and is very lumpy/jerky at low revs... This cud be a little to do with it being bridge ported too tho :s

Was talkin to pip as im goin to him to get mine remapped when my ecu and boost controller gets here and he\'s gonna change the primaries to 550 or 600 and my secondaires to 1600\'s.... Both are 850 at the mo.....

Hate to disagree but i know of people that have got 850cc primaries to idle as well as 550cc\'s  Also changing the primary injectors is a good chance to get rid of a lot of junk from the Plenim and rats nest area.. I have heard stories that suggest that the spray pattern of the 850cc injector is not suitable for the primary location and gives poor atomisation.
With tuning (mapping) experiance comes at a cost. Maybe the differance in this case could be a poor eye streaming idle.............

Carl, thanks for the reply, :cheers

i understand about the injectors having a \'Maximum Turndown\'.

i only do around 5000 miles a year in the FD if that so fuel consumption doesnt bother me in the slightest.

with the cat out i think that emmissions cant really be top of the agenda either.

i have been looking at the US forums and they seem to be of the opinion that this is a fairly safe route to extra fuelling without going over the top.

the trick to it appears to be getting rails which fit the 850 properly and correct mapping.

all of the cars with this set up and idle problem seem to suffer due to difficiencies in these areas.

ANDY: dont think i will be running a bridge port matey (as much as i would like to!!!)

Hi Andy,
Bridge ports do make the car jerky at low rpm.
