Hi ppl

Does anyone know of a site that has an un-biased road test review of the gorgeous FD3?  I\'ve looked all over but all the sites i\'ve looked at only really have reviews for new cars (which makes sense i guess).  just wondered what the general feelings are on the drive, perfomance, handling blah blah blah.  I know you guys love em\', but hey, you would!

Thanks

//www.iluvmyrx7.com has some American magazine articles of the RX7.

Don\'t know how biased they are (or not) but they are a good read.

Damn you guys are quick!

You should be out driving the nuts of your rex\'s!

thanks alot, gonna read em\' now.

as for the test drive plan, believe me i\'ve thought of it but wont have the money for a couple of months and it was hard enough to convince the shitreon garage to let me test-drive a saxo vtr which i\'ve now had three years,

which is a mind blowing, ..... wait for it............90bhp, woooow i hear you cry!

yes, its slow, front wheel drive and its french.

an extra 200 or so horses will do nicely me thinks!

thanks again

Thirsty - yeah I just been thinking about that.

Get about 200 miles on a tank.  A tank is £50.

I done 50 miles this evening so that cost me £12.50 which seems a fortune!

50quid for 200miles, damn!

i knew they were thirsty but blimey!

one thing my crappy sax does have going for it is the mpg

..........but, when a boy racer in a clapped out rs turbo leaves me for dead i couldnt care if it did 200mpg!

Got obliterated by my mate in his audi S3 tonight, told him to wait till i get my rex, i\'ll show him, i\'ll show everybody.....eVEryBoDy!!!!

...I\'ve been thinking about the fuel consumption, to be honest it doesn\'t seem too bad to me. My current car, 205 GTi, gets maybe 250 miles on a £35 tank. That\'s me driving like an old woman too, since the clutch is shot to hell, and since I\'ll be selling the car soon it just isn\'t worth me spending out the £200 to get it changed. My first car, also a 205, but this one the 954cc engined \'junior\', was even worse. 200 miles would cost me anything up to £35-40. Phenominally thirsty, if only because if you wanted to actually get anywhere with it, you needed the damn thing to be bouncing off the rev limiter :) For the first few months I owned it I was terrified I had a fuel leak :rollin

So £50 for 200 miles... I can deal with that, particularly considering how much more fun those 200 miles are going to be. :D

...having said that, the thought did strike me that if we were in America, those 200 miles would only cost about $20...

Lousy government.

Damn right about that!

Drove to miami and back from orlando (500ish miles each way) in a huge rover style vechile and i think it cost me about $40 return!

Damn that G. Brown!

Check that out for reviews, good stuff. Good articles versus similar cars of the time.

On the mpg note, the fd isn\'t really as bad as people make out. A subaru impreza turbo only gets 20 to the gallon at a push. A supra around 18 and most v8s offering similar performance( tvr chimera) will only get 16 ish. My mx5 does 200 miles to 30 quid of optimax but then i dont go below 3,000rpm...

J4P RX

It is as bad as people say

My 280bhp GTiR would normally get about 200 miles on about 35 quid.  It takes about 50 quid to get that in the FD, but on a motorway journey my GTiR would get about 300 miles and my FD is pretty much the same still.

GTiR would be much much quicker this time of year too, but nevermind :p

The only saver for me is I went out in a friends MK2 golf gti at the weekend thinking it would be cheaper, and it only did 17mpg!  I think theres something wrong and cant believe he hasnt thought it uses too much fuel :rollin

Drive it like you\'re running it in for a while and you\'ll be amazed... I\'m currently @ 260 miles on the current tank and it\'s just over 1/4 full on the fuel gague.

Will report back soon when I know how far I got.  What was Robbie\'s record?

I get about 230 miles from a tankful in my MX-5 and about 250 miles from the FD3 - don\'t see the problem :cool
