ive been looking at slightly bigger intercoolers that mount in the standard location.

would anyone suggest buying a bigger one for the standard placement??? or should i go for balls out front mount? im not a huge fan of lag mind.

howdy Justin, it all depends on what modifications you are running at the minute and what your ultimate goal is!!! My car was standard, so first i went for the uprated downpipe and filters. then had an apexi pfc fitted and mapped. Witht those mods i was seeing injector duty of 94% so uprating the intrecooler might have finished them off, so bigger injectors would be the way to go for me first. If you are looking at stock mount side intercoolers then i personnally think that the one pip sells at wgtautodevelopments is the bets looking on the market (if a bit pricey). rotechniks also sell an uprated version, or you could even check the ole\' ebay :2Rolleyes I am not a big fan of front mounts as they tend to take to much air away from the rad, ultimaely if money is no object then, invest in a V mount as they seem to be winning the day at the minute. Hope that helps, regards Andy :wiggle

well, im not intending on going mad with the engine as i need to keep it reliable (*cough*cough*) as can be.  so basically not yet is the answer to the intercooler question? the stock IC is fine for a nearly standard engine?

cheers

The stock intercooler is fine for the stock engine assuming it stays stock running the normal amount of boost, you could also consider the chargecoolers option.

Efini82

ok, cheers for the response.

ive also got a nitrous intercooler spray bar from my last car. when used on a hot day it reduce inlet charge temps by stupid amounts.  would it be a good thing to use on a rotary engine? i really dont know how tempermental these engines are in general, let alone to sudden to heat changes, so can someone advise please. (for anyone who doesnt know, the spray bar is attched to the intercooler. nitrous oxide is then sprayed onto the outside of the intercooler, dramatically reducing charge temps - like running on a freezing cold morning or night)

You\'d never get it on the standard intercooler !! The metal bit is tiny !!!!!!

i have an uprated Greddy SMIC, but it is giving me high injector duties so my next port of call is uprated injectors and mapping of the Power FC.

Have you got an uprated ecu ?

Gareth

no dont have uprated ecu. think i should sell the nitrous intercooler spray bar then?  want it? bought it for 250, been used, but the bottle hasnt as i bought a bigger bottle and never got it filled.

I Think Paul (Tintin) was installing a CO2 bottle & spray bar aimed at the outside of the standard intercooler. Not sure how he\'s gone on with it though (cue reply).

How about WI instead, its a cheaper option and seems to have good results from those that have it.

water injection wasnt a cheaper option as i already had the nitrous spray bar, but i sold it now with my old car as it actually fitted the intercooler on that.

it ok not gonna do much to the engine.

rich, did u sort ur mooing intake??
