Hi all,

I got my rex last Saturday and it\'s a got an older Greddy turbo timer and some sort of Clifford G4 cat 1 alarm but I\'ve got a few questions.

1. How do I find out what model alarm I have? It was fitted in Japan. Adrian Flux won\'t accept that it\'s a cat 2 immoblisor because its not in their database - because I don\'t know the model.

2. How do I stop it rearming itself when I walk away and go pay for my petrol? I come back to my car, open the door and the alarm goes off!!! Bloody annoying. My old Toad alarm had features I could turn on and off.

3. The turbo timer is a bit weird. For example if I leave it on and let the car turn off it\'s all fine but I then come back to the car and start it up again and the timer starts again!? At WGT yesterday and Pip said it\'s not supposed to do that.

Finally :) What are the hassles involved in fitting a new HKS Type 1 turbo timer in with either this or a new alarm??

Cheers!

Paul.

scary- i was just about to post a very similar thread!

surely a trip to sextons or somewhere similar should provide some answers.  they must be able to id the alarm or know someone that can.

i don\'t want to hijack your thread but i am having similar issues with my turbo timer/toad cat 1.  i used to be able to turn ignition off, get out, and lock car/arm alarm remotely, then just leave it.  after the tt ran out the engine turned off and the car was secure.

since i disconnected the battery, when i try and do the same thing, the car still locks initially but the indicators dont flash and it doesnt make a noise.  then when the tt runs down and the engine turns off the doors unlock themselves! luckily i discovered this fairly soon.

in addition to the problem above, does anyone have any ideas!?

I\'m off to see if I can get it looked at this weekend as I don\'t really want to buy a new alarm yet...though the rearming even when I don\'t tell it to is very annoying.

It sounds like you could have reset something in your system. Did you put it in valet mode before you disconnected the battery?

Hi, I can answer your your second question.  There is a data port on the G4 Clifford alarms which is used to configure the options on your alarm like remote starter, siren, comfort close windows and of course the auto arm.

It requires a lead from Clifford and also a laptop and software which you can down load from their web site.

Also I think there is a way you can do it from the remote if you have the second remote with the 6-7 buttons but I dont remember how you do it that way.

You have a number of options available.  first go to a local Clifford Installer and ask them to reconfigure the alarm for you.  they will also be able to identify the model from the main box (usually installed behind the clocks n the dash -  but it depends on the installer).

If you have the remote you can download the instruction manuals from the web site, and I think the G4 alarms all have the same config, so it wont matter which model you have as they all use the same button presses

Best of luck.

yeah you can turn off the auto arm by using the cable. It is called a cliffnet wizard cable and costs about £25.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CLIFFORD-CAR-ALARM-CLIFFNET-WIZARD-PRO-KIT-COMPLETE_W0QQitemZ8029052348QQcategoryZ75329QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It comes with the software and then all you need is a pc or laptop with a com port..most pc`s and older laptops have these. With the cable you can identify the model of the alarm and add different siren tones, turn features on/off and so on.The hardest part is plugging the wizard cable into the alarm unit. On my fd the alarm unit is right up behind the dash on the drivers side. It was so difficult and hard to get to i had to remove the dash :2eek but at the time i was adding the smart windows module to close the windows.

I have a Toad alarm and a HKS turbo timer fitted to mine. I have the same problem, I turn off the car, get out and remotely lock it, then the turbo timer turns the engine off and unlocks the car again. I just turned the turbo timer off to solve the problem.

Very annoying.

As robbie says its very difficult to locate the interface.

The guy who installed mine was a genius and had to show me three times where it was.  Also its up to the installer where they put the port, and also some times move them around for different installs, so there is no standard location for them.  Best get out there with a torch and someone to rub your sore back after you find it.

Ta very much everyone :) I guess I can have a hunt around this weekend and see if I can find it....got to be easier than paying for someone to remove a perfectly good alarm and then install a new one.

Yeah the turbo timer thing is well annoying. It\'s surely useless having it there if you have to stay with your car while it\'s running down?

Gives me yet another excuse to get a laptop as well ;)

Exactly! i phone sextons who installed the alarm originally and they didn\'t have a clue. i\'ve emailed the previous owner to see if he knows...

Well I\'ve ordered one of them leads off ebay which should be here tomorrow. Going down to a friends on Sunday who\'s installed all the alarms on previous cars and he\'s an ex-RAF electrical engineer so maybe he can figure it out :)

sorry for the hijack, but has anyone any experiance with laserline alarms. all i know is its thatcham approved. does Everyone use toad or clifford?

probedb

Any good installer should be able to take a look for you and figure the model out :)

I forgot to update...all sorted but found the boot and bonnet weren\'t hooked up!! Also getting a channel put in to replace the turbo timer :D
