drivers door handle wont open the catch!

as the title says. ive seen a similar post on here. just wondered if anyone had figured out how to fix it cuz i have my mot as soon as i cant fix it!

basically, the door handle pulls up, but the thick rod inside the door doesnt push the catch down to open it. its all connected, so i aint got a clue why its not playing ball!


any ideas anyone???

anyone know wot the trick is to get the rods off the handle mechcanism as i want to take the handle apart and i\'ll have to take them off anyway if i need a new handle.

I did have a problem in mine where the cables from the driverside window switch got into such a position that they touched the rods on the door release, and stopped it from popping. Mainly effected it when releasing the lock remotely, but sometimes I couldn\'t open the door.

May be related ?

na, that isnt the problem. all my other dangly bits are tucked away  :Giggle

i think i know what the problem is and it means a new handle, but i phones up mazda and nearly died when the guy told me how much for ONE handle!!!

i was less than impressed. :flamed
