I dropped the beast at the local friendly garage to have a couple of bits and pieces sorted out as we use them all the time and they are usually reliable. They did everything as planned but added a bit of a bonus to the car in the form of a nasty 6-8in tear in the front AD Facer bumper  where they caught it on the lip of the inspection pit. Neadless to say I am not a happy bunny. :2Rolleyes

They have of course offered to pay for the repair although it will only be the lower half of the bumper. The bloke from the body shop said if I choose to have the whole thing prepared and sprayed as opposed to just the bottom half it will cost me £150, plus whatever it costs them. As the (black) bumper is covered in stone chips and hairline cracks/marks anyway is this a good deal? I don\'t know how much it would normally cost to have the thing repainted so I\'ve no idea if I\'m getting a good deal or not. Also is it easy for them to get hold of the correct black paint code and paint? I have seen a few FDs with dodgy matching panels and the rest of my paintwork is immaculate!  They do a lot of fibre glass body repairs so at least the repair should be up to scratch...

Your opinions would be very much appreciated!...:Thumbs-up

Paint code will show on the plate in the engine bay at the back n/s. Stock black is PZ I think. 150 is a good deal provided they do a good job. Ask for examples of work done or look around their premises, they should be spraying in dust free areas and always be busy.

If they do a good job then thats a good price.

Usaly i have a look at some of the Job\'s they have knocking about when i go for an Estimate so you have a good idea of the kind of job your going to get. But in the Bodyshop world if you pay for a cheap job thats exactly what you get. Its easyer to paint over stone chips than Repairing them. Also most Bodyshops are on Bonus so corners get cut and the world of Paint is all about spending time on Prep before refinishing.

Doesnt sound like they have used to heavy a pen on the estimate!! be warned though, as soon as you mention GRP repairs people rub their hands together and bump the price up for specialist products, like GRP filler etc. dont buy in to any of that its a load of bolux! prices are double the standard materials and they are basicaly the same! I know this because my dad built Concorde Powerboats out of fiber glass from the 60\'s, untill he retired 4 years ago!!
