Hi all, anyone out there using one of the above mentioned speed detectors or read any write ups on one. There are so many conflicting reports, it would seem everyone has their own favourite. Please let me know what you think or what you have heard.

I have upgraded from a Snooper 815 to S6R and it is a quantum leap.

Awesomely accurate

This is my first venture into speed detection devices, does the radar and laser detector give front and rear coverage, where have you mounted the detector for that particular function. Thanks for your help by the way.

I bought one back in April, still havn\'t fitted it :(

Seen it going in my mates s2000 though, seems very good!

don\'t ask me about fitting though, that\'s why it\'s been there since april hehe

that road angel or whatever its called is supposed to be very good as well as it gives you accident blackspots and stuff and you can get updates from the net all the time!

check out http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/  for good reviews & all that.
IMO detectors are largely a waste so GPS jobbies wood be my personal preference if i was buying only 1 device but wheres the fun in that i got a bell 550 detector, road angel & 2 LRC100 jamemrs ready for installation on me FD when it arrives :D lol no really.

I have the RLD Unit mounted centrally on the dash with the GPS aerial on the rear shelf. The Radar / laser unit is supposed to give 360 degree detection. There are also mounting brackets available tailored to specific cars. I also bought an additional GPS aerial as I move the unit from my daily driver in to the Cosmo and back again.

The really big advantage over the old radar detectors is the lack of "falsing". My old Snooper 815 used to trigger at every supermarket, traffic light, dog with an identity chip, etc. So the programmability of the unit to eliminate this is really helpful. The Unit can be set to only give radar /laser alerts when you are exceeding 20 mph - great in town,  and to alert you to potential hazards plotted on GPS only if you are exceeding the speed limit for the road you are travelling on. When it does alert you it also tells you what speed you should be doing.

As I travel about 2000 miles a month all over the country, I can honestly say it\'s a great unit.

Road Angel is good too but doesn\'t give you the same amount of info.

Hope this helps

Hi Tim, just the kinda information i needed thank you, all my friends have road angel and suggested i go for that but i really want to get something with complete protection, and the snooper seems to be the only one which has all areas of speed detection covered. Thanks again.

dont know if this is the same as any of the ones mentioned above but i\'ve heard of a new detection device that actually scrambles the lazer signal giving you time too slow down to an \'appropriate\' speed.

70mph limit = toooooooo slow!!!!

hehe they\'ve been out for ages :)

If you go to //www.snooper.co.uk they have all these devices - S6R and the laser deflectors at really good prices.

However, they do point out that while owning and using a radar detector is not illegal, that the situation regarding the laser deflectors is less clear. basically, it\'s not illegal to sell them, just to use them.

As I understand it, if you do fit one of these deflectors and you are stopped, you run the risk of being charged with obstruction of justice. Up to you if you want to take the risk really.
