with the elbow from a turbo II replace the elbow (pictured below) from a NA, but flipped 180 degrees?

Possibly, but why?  The TII one has a smaller area IIRC

because the engines not in a rex! its in a beetle and the air filter, at the moment, protrudes from the back of the car. My plan is to pipe it through the firewall and to a NACA duct in one of the rear windows...

Take a look on ebay.com (make sure its .com and not the UK one) and type in FC3S.  Theres quite often some aftermarket elbows on there :)
Alternatively, why not cut and realign the elbow?  I have a complete spare EGI more or less, including engine if you need any parts.

hmmm just thinking that. Just stick em together with areldite....

Brett

Should be quite easy, IIRC they have a steel inner too, so all you have to do is slit the plastic and rotate it. :yes

haha just done it...and ive done it the dunce way!
instead of cutting it and fixinf it to the other side of the flange i rotated it....fitting it to the other side of the flange would have flipped it exactly 180degrees! not about 120!

ah well live and learn

Brett

LoL! At least you have it sorted now :)
How far off are you from getting the bug finisheed?

yeah good.....it was up and running. ITs gone backwards because of the work done to it but its coming together. Just bought an uprated clutch for her and ive fitted some perspex windows with NACA ducts to duct some air over an oil cooler. Also gonna try and duct the air to an enclosed filter through the rear bulkhead and up to a window. fingers crossed!
Bought a new engine from burtthebandit off here and that needs fitting up with the blanking plates and adapted flywheel. Then sort out the wiring and were good to go!
