There\'s an RX-7 for sale

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18256

and the spec list looks impressive but some of it means nothing to me.

Please could some one explain the engine mods to me???

In particular the following

Street Ported Housings
Large Apex Seals
Machined Rotors
Double Size Rotor Tips

and what effect they have???

Thank you in advance.

Street Ported Housings means the housing has had the ports bored larger to make the car breath better.
Large Apex Seals. Standard 2mm, means youve 3mm fitted, arguable, whether better or not.
Machined Rotors. Machined metal off to make lghter, would ask for proof, and they would ideally need to be balanced, not just machined.
Double Size Rotor Tips. Crap

Cheers mate. That\'s a great help. I live and learn.

But why crap for Double Size Rotor Tips???

mullins

Machined rotors could also relate to fitting 3mm apex seals as apposed to lightening them. I\'ve never heard lightened rotors refered to as "machined" but who knows...

You can get larger 3mm instead of 2mm but not double size tips.

If your worried about it the best bet is to give pip at wgt a ring, he keeps all the rebuild information backed up on his computer. At least he can shed some light into what has been done to the engine. May just be the way its been written on the bill from pip because each will have a set cost on his billing system.
